John Sahag developed a way of sculpting hair with a dry cut. He pioneered the 'Dry Carving' hair cutting technique in New York, creating the trend-setting Hollywood hairstyles of Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore and many others.

'Dry Carving' is based on the philosophy that hair falls differently when wet than when dry.  Cutting hair when dry allows the stylist complete control over the movement of the hair as the hair falls into shape.  This allows the stylist to 'carve' or 'sculpt' shapes that are impossible with wet hair.  This creates a natural shape according to the way your hair grows, achieving a better haircut. Hair will blend more naturally, keep its shape and grow out beautifully.

Hair is washed, dried then straightened with ceramic irons.  It is then cut or 'carved' strand by strand, vertically tapering the ends, following the natural grain of the hair.  As the hair is dry, both client and Mark can instantly see the results.  Using this technique makes it easier to achieve the desired look or style.
