Five Minutes with Blanca Sanchez, Halo Design Interiors
We caught up Blanca Sanchez, Founder of Halo Design Interiors to learn more about her journey into the world of design and the inspiration behind her work.

Tell us a little about your background & Halo Design Interiors
Having been born in Paris, to an American mother and Spanish father, multiculturalism is part of who I am, and is also representative of the Halo design team. Through our experience of living in other countries and also having spent many years in the UK, we are open to learning about how our clients live in this global world, and how our designs can best enhance their day to day lives.
What’s your favourite part of being an interior designer? And the worse, if there is one?
There are so many aspects to what I do which I enjoy, but if I had to pin point favourite bits, I would say they relate to interaction with people – working with my team when the designs start to flow and we get an overall vision of a space can be exciting; collaborating with a great build team can be so fulfilling; and seeing the faces of our clients when the designs are installed is probably one of the most satisfying aspects of being an interior designer.
What was the first space you ever designed?
One of my earliest memories of design is as a child, going with my mother to Laura Ashley and picking a green floral wallpaper with matching fabric for the curtains for my bedroom.
Do you have a design “signature” that sneaks into most of your projects, even unintentionally?
I strongly believe that interiors should represent the way the clients want to live and their preferred aesthetics rather than something imposed on them by the interior designer. However, as a good interior designer will inevitably bring their own emotion into their designs, I’m sure there must be threads which run through many of our projects, but we try to keep the client at the heart of all our creations.
How do you see interior design evolving in the next decade?
A decade is a long time, but perhaps interior design will continue to evolve in the direction of recognising how one’s environment affects every aspect of daily life – with an emphasis on wellness, the senses, sustainability and protecting the planet.
What’s something you believe about design that might surprise among other designers?
I can’t speak for other designers, but I do believe that if you remove the ego when designing and focus on the needs of the client, you are likely to achieve the best end result, both aesthetically and on a practical level.
How do you think social media has changed the way clients think about design (for better
or worse)?
Social media has opened up interiors and made them accessible to all, giving exciting possibilities for both clients and interior designers. One thing to be wary of however, is the tendency for social media to show you more of the same once you click on something. This can have a limiting aspect when it comes to design, as it could stop designs evolving and being individual. A key role of an interior designer is to ensure that the designs fit the spaces and also enhance the clients life and also to be forward thinking on a clients behalf, ensuring timelessness and longevity.
