Top Aesthetic Trends 2025 - Part Three
Prejuvenation, lab growth factor technology & health span tracking
Prejuvenation will soar in popularity
Prejuvenation -preventing ageing before it starts -will continue to soar. Focused on early skin treatments and long-term maintenance, it’s all about preserving youthful skin with small, consistent interventions rather than waiting to address visible signs of ageing.
‘Prejuvenation is a preventative protocol that combines a good skincare regime with non-surgical treatments to help promote collagen production and support the skin barrier,’ says cosmetic surgeon and founder of 111 Harley Street Cosmetic Clinic, Dr Yannis Alexandrides.
‘In past generations, most people waited until they started seeing their first wrinkle to look at ways to rejuvenate the skin. Now, with so much information and education at our fingertips due to social media, combined with the advancements in skincare and aesthetics, younger people (mid-20s even and up to early 30s) are looking at pre-emptive ways to keep their skin in good condition'.
Aesthetic doctor, Dr Galyna Selezneva highlights Thermage FLX as a top prejuvenation treatment, using radiofrequency to boost collagen and prevent skin laxity.
‘Thermage is hugely popular within my clinic for those wishing to reboot their collagen levels and have treatments ahead of time. ‘Collagen production starts to dwindle in our mid-to-late 20s and early 30s and we start losing 1% of our collagen per year after that. We’re therefore looking to promote this collagen production as we hit our mid-twenties so that we continue to stay looking refreshed and youthful'.
‘Collagen is particularly important because of the fact that it supports your skin and provides structure for it. It also works with another protein called elastin to aid the skin’s flexibility so that it can stretch and return to shape when you move and also when you grow or your body changes shape during puberty, pregnancy and weight gain,’ she adds.
Thermage FLX uses advanced radiofrequency technology to heat the skin, boosting elasticity to smooth, lift, and tighten areas like the eyes, face, jawline, stomach, and body. While some results are immediate, the full effect develops over six months and can last up to three year.
‘Each treatment takes about 45 minutes for the face to 90 minutes for the body depending on the size, location, and condition of the area to be treated. The result is an immediate skin tightening and well defined three-dimensional skin contour, all in a single treatment without surgery, with little to no downtime. After which, your skin condition continues to improve for the next six months, with results lasting up to 12 months.’
It’s the only FDA-approved non-invasive eye tightening treatment, with over two million procedures performed. With no needles or downtime, it’s especially popular for tightening the jowls and neck.
Lab Crafted- The Next Generation of Regenerative Growth Factor Technology
In 2025, lab-grown growth factor technology will take centre stage in skincare. Free from animal byproducts, these next-gen growth factors—like those in Cellderma’s GF5 serum—are created in labs using bacteria to replicate human placental proteins responsible for collagen production and tissue repair.
Clinically proven and cruelty-free, lab-grown growth factors boost elasticity, plumpness, and skin texture, making them key for tackling early signs of aging. This innovation is transforming skincare, with more brands integrating growth factors into serums, masks, and in-clinic treatments, redefining anti-aging solutions.
Aesthetic doctor and founder of CellDerma, Dr Dev Patel explains that ‘specialised cells called stem cells make growth factors naturally as part of our body’s ongoing damage repair and renewal process.’ He explains ‘Growth Factors (GFs) mediate a myriad of pathways to enable regeneration, for example stimulating fibroblast cells in the skin to make new collagen; a protein that is essential for the integrity of the skin. Having used them in my clinic to promote wound healing, I realised that Growth Factors can help accelerate wound healing - so imagine what they can do for general ageing. GFs can give a significant kick-start to renewal processes delivering firmer, tighter, brighter and architecturally younger skin.’
Adopted by some of the UK’s top skin and aesthetic clinics, GF5 Growth Factor Serum has begun to change the industry’s beliefs in what a single serum can achieve, both in combination with aesthetic treatments and when used alone. Featuring a high concentration of 5 unique Growth Factors that are bio-identical to the life-giving Growth Factors found in the human placenta. When these Growth Factors are applied directly to the skin, they help to reverse the ageing process and repair existing damage by triggering processes essential for repair. Other ingredients such as Vitamin B9 support and improve Growth Factor efficacy.
Dr Paris Acharya, aesthetic doctor and facial surgeon and Co-Founder of The Ardour Clinic favours the new growth factor serum from PCA Skin and says that they can be easily incorporated into a skincare routine. 'They are super lightweight and can easily be layered under your other products without creating a greasy texture'.
The brand-new Pro-Max Age Renewal Serum from PCA Skin is clinically proven to visibly lift and firm the appearance of skin by 60%. Clinically proven to address sagging, the Pro-Max Age Renewal Serum visibly lifts and firms the appearance of the skin by 60%, helping support collagen production to restore facial volume and fullness, resulting in 58% visible improvement.
‘Although I recommend using a growth factor twice daily both morning and night, the process will actually be most effective at night as this is when your skin tries to repair itself,’ explains Dr Acharya.
‘In your morning routine, complete your usual cleaning routine and then use a toner to refresh and hydrate. Then, apply a generous amount of your growth serum and leave for 5-10 minutes to allow the product to properly soak into the skin. Growth serums work best on clean or slightly damp skin therefore using them after your nourishing toner is recommended. Your daily moisturiser should come next and then finish with a broad spectrum SPF and your eye cream.’
Health Spanning Tracking & Longevity Treatments
We’re fast moving away from trying to look as young as possible and instead looking the best of our age.
Dr Shirin Lakhani, cosmetic doctor and intimate health specialist, of Elite Aesthetics says
'It’s not about anti-ageing anymore but looking and feeling your best whether that’s through good skin care, your beauty regime or intimate health. It’s about rejuvenation to be able to live life to the fullest, rather than how you look. People are leaning more towards the overall long-term approach of optimal skin, physical and mental health solutions'.
Companies are investing heavily in tracking health data to develop methods to improve “Healthspan” (Health span is the period of your life which you spend healthy, rather than simply how long you will physically be alive).
'As we live longer there is a higher incidence of chronic disease and there has been a shift towards preventative and lifestyle medicine, particularly in the private sector. The Covid pandemic changed people's ideas about health, and people are looking for treatments that increase their wellness. The focus of aesthetic medicine is shifting to more proactive ways of maintaining and enhancing health so that not only do our patients look younger but also feel younger.
The term anti-aging has negative connotations. To me it’s about age-management and looking and feeling the best you can at your age rather than trying to stop the ageing process. Many of my patients just want little adjustments to improve their confidence - ones which are barely noticeable to those around them but give an overall impression of natural beauty. We provide many different approaches such as nutritional advice and supplements, hormone replacement, lymphatic massage, intimate health solutions and biostimulatory skin treatments and I believe this holistic approach to longevity is the future of aesthetic medicine.’
Mr Paul Banwell, Plastic Surgeon and Longevity Expert, says “My approach is a 360 holistic approach to surgical journeys. I have an in-house psychologist to speak with patients before surgery and we also recommend luxury wellbeing supplements called ARTIS London, which can improve surgical outcomes, both physically and emotionally through our Recovery Complex and Nootropic Complex. The latter aims to provide ideal conditions to improve mood, well-being and positivity following a procedure. It is ideal to optimise healing and maintain focus in the post-operative period and beyond into daily life'.
He has also created the ARTIS London Regenerative Complex supplement which focuses on longevity and ageing through NAD+ and sirtuin receptors: 'NAD+ is a natural molecule found in every cell and is fundamental to energy production in our body as well as being critical for cellular maintenance and repair.
Dr Paris Acharya confirms the shift towards a more holistic approach to aesthetics. ‘One of the main aesthetic trends that we're starting to see consistently is the movement towards a more holistic approach. With self-care and inner-wellness rising to the top of everyone's priorities over the past couple of years, people now spend a lot more of their time focusing on their happiness levels and wellbeing, moving away from solely aesthetic treatments and towards a combined approach.
While people used to potentially just focus on one or the other (aesthetics or mental health), they're now coming to the realisation that both need to be used in harmony to receive the most effective life results'.
Multi tasking Facials - The New Non Negotiable
Whilst there is no shortage of effective skincare on the market, nothing beats the results of a professional facial and experts predict that this will become the industry’s new non-negotiable. What’s more, with limited time available, more than ever people are looking for treatments that can address numerous skin concerns in one hit, giving them the benefit of numerous different treatments in one sitting.
Sharon Hilditch, MBE and founder of Crystal Clear Skincare, says ‘Time is a luxury, and today’s clients want more than just a pampering session they want results. That’s why Skinstorm was created - to deliver the benefits of multiple treatments in one go, with no compromise on quality. It’s a six-step powerhouse that blends deep-cleansing, resurfacing, hydration, and skin repair into a single, streamlined facial.
Designed to be a true multitasker, tackling everything from congestion and dullness to dehydration and signs of ageing all while giving skin that post-treatment glow without any downtime. It’s all about making high-tech facials a necessity, not just an occasional treat'.
Inside Out Beauty -The Rise of Supplements in Skincare Routines
With a staggering 16.1 million Britons currently reaching for supplements as a shortcut to overhaul health, the supplements industry has never been bigger. Now people are realising the synergy between supplements and skin health, and this trend is set to really take off in 2025 as people fully appreciate the positive impact supplements can have on the efficacy of skin and aesthetic treatments.
Beauty Begins in the Gut -How Probiotics Support Skin Health
Emily English is a BSC-qualified nutritionist and the founder of gut health supplement, Epetōme comments 'Looking ahead to 2025, the role of gut health in skincare is set to grow, with new research focusing on personalised probiotics to address specific skin concerns. The gut-skin axis
-a communication network between the two -reveals that imbalances in gut bacteria can contribute to skin issues like acne, eczema, rosacea, and even premature ageing. Inflammation in the gut often shows up on the skin, exacerbating these conditions.
Probiotics may help balance gut bacteria and support skin health. They help reduce oxidative stress, minimise inflammation, and boost the skin’s immune response. Additionally, probiotics can improve nutrient absorption, ensuring vitamins and minerals like A, C, and E critical for skin health are fully utilised by the body. They also strengthen the skin barrier by increasing ceramide levels, which helps lock in moisture and protect against external damage.
You can incorporate probiotics into your diet through fermented foods like kefir, kimchi, and sauerkraut or via high-quality probiotic supplements such as Epetome. Maintaining a healthy gut is one of my favourite ways to achieve glowing, healthy skin.
